Unexpected adoption update

Not what you would expect. Our adoption agency shut down due to financial difficulties. We do not know where to go from here and what will happen with our file and how much more unexpected expenses we will be asked to come up with. And will there be a baby in the end?

We're very dissapointed and upset.

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that! I hope once you get over the disappointment, you will let us know what happens now?

Molly,
I have been following your blog for a little while. I usually don't comment, but this is such a difficult time for you guys...
I just want to say to hang in there. I'm sure your daughter will come to you, maybe not exactly the way you had planned or at the time you expected her. Try to take care of yourselves in this challenging time...
Best of luck...

Thank you. We just found out that we can transfer our file (we already have a LID, for almost 3 years!) to another agency, for a fee of $1250 to accept us. Everyone seems to be taking advantage of the parents that only want to adopt a child and try to get as much money out of them as possible, while it lasts. Isn't the fee to accept our file that is already all done, translated, sent to China, accepted, etc. a little bit ridiculous?

So the adoption never happened. We could transfer out file but it would cost us additional $5000 (to start) just to verify our paperwork and update the home study, that was just updated not long ago. Everyone wants to make as much money and use abandoned babies for their personal gain. It's a sickening type of business.
